Remember how you felt when you first opened your studio? There is a sense of pride of ownership and real hope for what the future holds.
Then reality starts to set in.
Most dance studios see pretty good numbers in enrollment their first year in business. (Any time a new business opens in an area it creates some free BUZZ that can be taken advantage of for a few months at least.)
But then reality starts to set in.
They realize that they’re going to have to hustle to keep the doors open, much less actually make a real profit.
Ever sit back to look at the numbers and realize that running a business gets more expensive every year?
“Growing your studio isn’t just about making more profit, we have to do it just to keep up with inflation!”
Real estate prices go up over time. Digital marketing costs are getting prohibitively expensive. (Some of our campaigns are going up as much as 15% per month right now.) The other studios in the area are growing, and that makes it more expensive to keep up. Plus, the cost of living in general goes up over time.
Growing your studio isn’t just about making more profit, we have to do it just to keep up with inflation!
And that’s not something that most studio owners consider when they first go in to business.
The truth is:
YOU’RE EITHER GROWING, OR YOU’RE DYING ON THE VINE.
That’s not my rule, that’s the universe’s rule. And, I learned it the hard way.
The first year I opened a real studio in my community I actually did pretty well right out of the gate. (At least that’s how I felt at the time.)
But then, for the next two or three years, things DEFINITELY slowed down. We’d sign up a few new students here and there, but the growth we were hoping for just didn’t happen.
I was stressed out, but I figured that if we just waited out the slow times maybe things would get better on their own. Maybe the economy was just down, or maybe the time of year wasn’t quite right.
Can you guess what happened?
NOTHING.
Things didn’t just get better on their own. (Of course they didn’t.)
This really worried me. I knew that my own costs were increasing every single year. and I’m grateful that I figured this out so early, because it’s a big part of what has gotten me to the studio I have today.
Know what I did?
I started to test everything. I questioned the assumptions that I had made about how this business was “supposed” to work. I studied everything I could get my hands on. Then I spent THOUSANDS of dollars testing out marketing and tracking my stats very closely.
It was an insane amount of work, and a huge investment of money.
But, I cracked the code. All because I got ANGRY. I wasn’t going to let this business beat me. I was going to do WHATEVER it took to make it work.
I have since had a record year every single year since, and there is no sign of that stopping. (Did I mention I have a plant genetics degree? I’m no business guy.)
If I can do it, you can do it. FULL STOP.
If you’d like my help to get you started growing your studio and finally freeing yourself from it then we should chat.
I don’t work with just anybody. I work with studio owners that are willing to question the industry and make huge changes. I work with studios that want to DOUBLE their enrollment and income. If that sounds like you then we should chat.
Take a moment and fill out this application and let’s see if working together seems like a good fit:

Please keep in mind that I don’t work with just anyone. If I look over your information and I don’t think it’s going to be a good fit I might have to cancel our call. (Don’t worry I’ll still send you some great FREE stuff for your troubles, and maybe we’ll be able to work together in the future.)
So, ask yourself this question:
“Will this year go by without any profound change to your studio?”
